Caring & combat: Common Reading Experience examines war and compassion
Sunday, September 16, 2012

War: a timely, complex, and often difficult topic to tackle. Which is exactly why The Heart & the Fist is this year's choice for the Common Reading Experience: because it asks hard questions and doesn't offer easy answers, and so inspires reflection, analysis, and discussion.

Students bring local foods from seed to market
Thursday, July 12, 2012

When students learn, everyone benefits. And at Fort Lewis College, those benefits can be found every Thursday from spring to fall under the Clocktower in the center of campus. Fort Lewis College has been actively improving its sustainability since becoming a charter signatory of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, in 2007. Since then, the colleges' Sustainability Action Plan has led to the construction of "green" buildings, introducing local foods into dining facilities, expanding on-campus recycling, prioritizing recycled products in purchasing, upgrading irrigation efficiency, the installation of a new composter for on-campus dining, and more.
