FLC’s President Thomas to join executive committee for premier public liberal arts organization
FLC's President Thomas to become treasurer of
the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges
DURANGO, CO - Fort Lewis College President Dene Thomas has been chosen to become the treasurer for the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) Executive Committee. She will officially take this position at COPLAC’s June 21 meeting.
This is a service opportunity for President Thomas and will not interfere with her duties as the head of Fort Lewis College.
COPLAC is an organization dedicated to championing the value of a liberal arts education. Twenty-six institutions in the U.S and Canada, including Fort Lewis College, are members of COPLAC.
The real value of a liberal arts education is giving students the breadth of knowledge and skills to help them succeed within and beyond their major. A true liberal arts education prepares students to be experts in their chosen fields, but also to become proficient in disciplines outside of their specialties. Liberal arts students are trained to think critically, identify and solve problems that others might miss, and adapt to an ever changing world.
