Spanish-speaking students help FLC help Spanish-speaking families

Bienvenidos a El Centro de Muchos Colores!

That's the greeting visitors get on “El Centro en Español,” the new Spanish-language version of the homepage for El Centro de Muchos Colores, FLC's Hispano resource center. And soon, those Spanish-speaking visitors will be able to, with a single click, get a “Bienvenidos a Fort Lewis College!” greeting and essential information about the college in Spanish, as well.

Student brings ragtime piano greats together in Durango

Adam Swanson loves old-time piano. And later this month, he's going to share that love, festival style.

Swanson, a junior Music major from Shenandoah, Iowa, was 10 years old when he first heard ragtime music. “We bought my grandparents an internet system, and I heard ragtime as the background music,” says Swanson. “I liked it so much I started asking my mom to play it, because she played a little piano. Before long I started learning on my own.”

Hozhoni Days marks its 49th year at Fort Lewis College

For 49 years, Hozhoni Days (meaning Days of Beauty) has been one of Fort Lewis College’s premier events. The Native American-centered celebration runs throughout the month of March and includes pageantry, speakers and workshops, to name just a few events, all culminating with the Hozhoni Days Powwow.

In a challenging world, FLC Career Services offers the roadmap to a great career

Spurred by state budget cuts and driven by a desire to offer students more personalized tools to stand out from the crowd, the FLC Career Services Office was revamped in 2011. The office went from a centralized program to a decentralized one with Career Services coordinators focusing on each of FLC’s three schools: Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Natural and Behavioral Sciences; and Business Administration, as well as the Teacher Education program.
