Professor and student praise undergraduate research in professional magazine

Having undergraduate students do real-world research is key to developing professionalism and a passion for the field – for both students and faculty – say a Geosciences professor and a former student in the January/February issue of The Professional Geologist, the official magazine of the American Institute of Professional Geologists.

“The trial-by-fire experience gained through two years of original research helped develop the scientific philosophy and skills that I apply daily in my budding career as a geologist,” writes Jake Cammack (Geology, '11).

Cycling takes first shot at BMX nationals

The #1 ranked Fort Lewis College Cycling team will vie for its first-ever BMX title this Saturday, March 2, when the team heads to Phoenix to compete in the 2013 USA Cycling BMX National Championships. 

This will be the second year that USA Cycling has held a national championship for collegiate athletes in the popular discipline of BMX.

College Goal Saturday offers free FAFSA help

Even with changes to the U.S. Department of Education's Free Application for Federal Student Aid that have made the form easier to fill out, the FAFSA, as it's commonly called, can still can be a daunting task.

That's why the FLC Financial Aid Department is hosting College Goal Saturday -- it's a chance for students and parents to get free help filling out the FAFSA from financial aid professionals.
