As the Fort Lewis College Cycling team heads to Boulder for the USA Cycling Cyclo-Cross National Championships this weekend, they'll be competing in the first race of their 20th anniversary year. And come May, they hope to celebrate that milestone in an appropriate manner: with another #1 season. At the nationals, January 8 - 12, FLC aims to boost its shot at earning a fifth #1 Division I end-of-season ranking, adding another memorable year to the team's two decades of cycling excellence. Going into this weekend's competition, Skyhawks Cycling is tied for the #1 position for omnium title for the '13 - '14 season.

Up to 150 alumni, staff, faculty, and friends of Fort Lewis College will combine their love of cycling with helping students, when the Fort Lewis College Road Scholars Team races the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge train from Durango to Silverton in the 2014 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, on Saturday, May 24.

The Fort Lewis College Cycling Team is in Beech Mountain, North Carolina, this week for the 2013 USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals, where they'll try to stay the national champions of Division I collegiate mountain biking for the eighth year in a row. A team omnium title would also be the Skyhawks' 16th national mountain bike national championship in history – including the first-ever collegiate mountain bike national title in 1994, the FLC team's first year on the circuit.

Fort Lewis College Cycling invites all cycling fans to the Fall Blaze Bicycle Tour on Saturday, Spetember 28. The fully-supported group ride around beautiful Southwestern Colorado at the peak of autumn foliage season is the sole fundraiser for the Cycling Scholarship Fund, supporting cyclists on the FLC Cycling team.

They just love sharing the love.
That’s the strongest thing fueling the kinship that has developed between the FLC Cycling team and Durango Devo, a six-year-old youth-development cycling club for Durango-area kids and young adults. And with an area like southwestern Colorado to cycle around, the program’s participants and alumni have already made their mark in amateur, collegiate, and professional cycling.
