The undergraduate academic careers of more than 170 Fort Lewis College students came to a triumphant end at Winter Commencement 2012. The graduates assembled with their families, friends and professors to celebrate their graduation into the next phase of their lives.

DURANGO, CO - For 175 seniors at Fort Lewis College, Winter Commencement will mark a triumphant end to their undergraduate academic careers. Fort Lewis College’s Winter Commencement takes place on Saturday, December 15, 2012, in Whalen Gym. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

Normally when people think "history," "excitement" doesn't also come to mind. But for Evan West, it does. West, a sophomore History and Theatre dual-major from Fort Collins, is one of the first students to explore the History Department's new Public History option, which, he says, “is all about bringing history to life.” West spent his summer doing a Public History internship in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

One of the best tests of a great teacher is to ask what they find most rewarding about their jobs. The answers may vary, but they will invariably shift the focus from the teacher to the student. The best educators revel in the successes of their students, as is the case with Assistant Professor of History Dr. Jennifer Stollman.
