For 450 Fort Lewis College students, one chapter of their lives culminated and a new one began at FLC’s Spring Commencement on April 28. The newest Fort Lewis alumni walk away with degrees in the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural and behavioral sciences, and business.
The Commencement Address was offered by U.S. Senator Mark Udall. Appropriate to the beautiful scenery that surrounds Fort Lewis College, Sen. Udall called upon his past experiences as an outdoorsman to encourage the new graduates to seek out adventure and to not shy away from taking risks.

United States Senator Mark Udall will offer the Commencement Address at the Fort Lewis College Spring Commencement on Saturday, April 28, 2012, in Whalen Gym. To accommodate the large number of graduates and their family and friends, there will be two Commencement ceremonies, one at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 11:30 a.m. Sen. Udall will speak at both ceremonies.

Fort Lewis College’s 2011 Fall Commencement ceremony might be considered the official end of the College’s centennial year. It also represented the end of the undergraduate academic careers of around 180 FLC students. At the same time, Commencement marks a new beginning for both Fort Lewis College and its newest alumni, a second century for one and a new life as a college graduate for the other.
