Alumna turns her camera on Afghan photographers in upcoming film

“Film is so powerful a tool,” says filmmaker Alexandria Bombach, “because storytelling is so human and can make a big difference in people’s lives.”

Bombach (Business Administration, '08) has proven that theory herself. After her first film, a travelogue of her journey in an Airstream trailer to meet people living with few possessions, she was surprised to find she had touched viewers.

First-generation graduate will help others reach their dreams in Teach For America program

When Marissa Molina and her parents first moved from Chihuahua, Mexico, to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, the only English she knew was “I don't speak English.” Today, her English is excellent, and in May she will become the first in her family to earn a college degree. But before attaining that particular first, Molina has already accomplished something no other Fort Lewis College student has ever done: She is the first-ever accepted into Teach For America, a nonprofit that places high-achieving college graduates into low-income communities to teach in challenging environments.

In a challenging world, FLC Career Services offers the roadmap to a great career

Spurred by state budget cuts and driven by a desire to offer students more personalized tools to stand out from the crowd, the FLC Career Services Office was revamped in 2011. The office went from a centralized program to a decentralized one with Career Services coordinators focusing on each of FLC’s three schools: Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Natural and Behavioral Sciences; and Business Administration, as well as the Teacher Education program.
