Provost Morris and VP Sexton give Class of 2015 its academic and community charges

On August 26, 2011, at Fall Convocation, the formal beginning of the academic year, Provost Barbara Morris and Vice President for Student Affairs Glenna Sexton charged the incoming class of students with guidelines and aspirations that will help them make the most of their college experience.

Fort Lewis College chosen as one of the Princeton Review's "Best in the West" colleges

Fort Lewis College is one of the Princeton Review’s “Best in the West” colleges, it was announced today. This puts Fort Lewis on an elite list of 121 colleges in the western United States that are above-the-rest academically.

Award helps in the search for the next medical breakthrough and the next great scientist

Do an Internet search for high dose drugs and the headlines that come to the top are ominous: “FDA Should Ban High Doses of Alzheimer's Drug Aricept, Public Citizen Says,” “High-Dose Statins May Increase Diabetes Risk,” “FDA Warns Against High Doses Of Cholesterol Drug.”

Fort Lewis College Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Kenny Miller is working on ways to keep, and perhaps even increase, a drug’s medicinal effects while decreasing the need for a high dosage that can lead to harmful side effects.

Public Health Director brings 25 years of experience

Dr. Connie Kitchens, program director of Fort Lewis College’s new Public Health program, is just the type of professor students want to learn from. Dedicated to helping students find their way. Passionate about her subject matter. And though it’s just her first year as a full-time professor, she’s definitely no rookie when it comes to public health.
