Hozhoni Days powwow and pageant a festival of Native culture

Its Navajo name means "Days of beauty" -- a description perfectly suited to Hozhoni Days, a month of pageantry, speakers, powwowing, and celebration of cultures that is Fort Lewis College's longest-running student-led tradition.

The theme for this year's 48th annual Hozhoni Days is “Celebrating the Centennial Through Traditions and Education." Events include speakers, workshops, and the annual Ms. Hozhoni Pageant, and culminates in a two-day weekend powwow, where the winner of this year's Ms. Hozhoni is crowned.

Women's History Month shines a light on gender issues

The Gender and Women’s Studies Program at Fort Lewis College and the Women’s Resource Center are partnering to celebrate Women’s History Month. Beginning Tuesday, February 28, events will be held at FLC and in town that highlight the contributions of women, both historical and contemporary. Many of the events are free and open to the public.

Conference brings adventure education professionals to FLC campus

There's no better setting for outdoor education enthusiasts to gather than on a campus surrounded by inspiring mountain vistas.

That's what the members of the Association for Experiential Education will get when the 2012 Rocky Mountain Region AEE conference convenes on the Fort Lewis College campus Friday, March 23, through Sunday, March 25. The AEE's Rocky Mountain Region includes Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and Sonora and Sinaloa, Mexico.

And for students in the Fort Lewis College Adventure Education program, it's an opportunity to meet and work with professionals and practitioners in the field, as well as other students, professors, and educators.
