Fort Lewis College poet professor earns accolades at home and abroad

Renowned poet and Fort Lewis College Associate Professor of English Pam Uschuk has won the Winning Writer’s 2011 War Poetry Contest. Her three poems, "Horoscope," "White Phosphorus After Hanukkah," and "The Taliban Takes Pakistan," were all awarded first place in the contest.

Fort Lewis College and San Juan College partnering to produce tomorrow’s scientists

Producing more graduates in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields is becoming increasingly important in a world where advances in these fields are coming faster than ever. This fall, Colorado’s Fort Lewis College was awarded almost $600,000 over the next five years from the National Science Foundation to support a partnership with New Mexico’s San Juan College to do just that.

Visiting professor to speak on oral histories and the Navajo Nation

Dr. Jennifer Nez Denetdale, associate professor of American Studies at the University of New Mexico will visit at Fort Lewis College as part of the FLC Native American Center Speaker Series. In addition to meeting with students, Dr. Denetdale will offer a public presentation at 7 p.m. in the Center of Southwest Studies Lyceum on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Fort Lewis College joins telescope network that could help prevent a demolition derby in space

Since the advent of space exploration and satellite technology the area just above Earth’s atmosphere is turning into something resembling a busy highway in the middle of a junkyard. Knowing what’s flying around our planet and keeping the country’s satellites out of harm’s way is a critical national security issue. Helping in this national security issue is a newly formed partnership between higher education institutions in Colorado and Chile, including Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.
