2012 draws to a close with Winter Commencement at Fort Lewis College

DURANGO, CO - For 175 seniors at Fort Lewis College, Winter Commencement will mark a triumphant end to their undergraduate academic careers. Fort Lewis College’s Winter Commencement takes place on Saturday, December 15, 2012, in Whalen Gym. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

Scholarship gets student on track for a master's degree -- and a mission

For Jeremiah Scott, earning both a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in social work in only five years means he not only saves time and money, it also means he can get on with reaching his career goal: Helping people, like how others helped him.

And now, a $30,000 scholarship has sealed his passage to that dream.

FLC joins nationwide commitment to help the U.S. take the global lead in college degree attainment

Fort Lewis College has joined with hundreds of colleges and universities across the country in “Project Degree Completion: A Public University Initiative,” by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). By joining the initiative, FLC is committing to help increase the number of undergraduate baccalaureate degrees granted in the United States by 3.8 million between now and 2025, while increasing the quality of education provided and keeping the cost of that education affordable. The end goal is to help the United States lead the world in post-secondary degree attainment.

Renowned wildlife disease researcher and professor earns FLC Featured Scholar Award

The Featured Scholar award recognizes a FLC faculty member’s exceptional accomplishments in research and scholarship. Dr. Lehmer’s research into wildlife diseases, particularly Sin Nombre virus, has earned her national renown. Her recent work has been published in scientific journals and written about in media outlets such as ScienceNews, US News & World Report, and the New York Times.

New Public History option brings history to life

Normally when people think "history," "excitement" doesn't also come to mind. But for Evan West, it does. West, a sophomore History and Theatre dual-major from Fort Collins, is one of the first students to explore the History Department's new Public History option, which, he says, “is all about bringing history to life.” West spent his summer doing a Public History internship in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
