New Geosciences, Physics and Engineering Building gets the green light

After years of planning and work, the new Geosciences, Physics and Engineering (GPE) Building at Fort Lewis College will become a reality. Word came down from the state capital that construction funding to begin the new building is now secured.

FLC professor’s research on CO2 and plant growing seasons gains national attention

Dr. Heidi Steltzer, Fort Lewis College assistant professor of biology, was part of a research team looking at how higher atmospheric CO2 concentration resulting from fossil fuel pollution affected the growing season of plants. The research project was a partnership between Fort Lewis College, Colorado State University, and the USDA Agricultural Research Service.

FLC Hall of Fame quarterback to offer address at Commencement ceremonies

John Chisholm (’76), a member of the Fort Lewis College Athletic Hall of Fame, will offer the Commencement Address at FLC’s Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Two ceremonies will be held to accommodate the more than 500 graduates and their families, the first beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 11:30 a.m. Both ceremonies will be held in Whalen Gym. A final lecture from an educational legend: Dr. Duane Smith

This year Dr. Duane Smith will officially retire from teaching at Fort Lewis College. Before that, Dr. Smith will give one final lecture that is open to everyone on Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Undergraduate Research Symposium is FLC’s biggest day for student research

On Thursday, April 24, one of the largest research showcases in the Four Corners region will take place at Fort Lewis College’s Undergraduate Research Symposium. Stemming from the College’s recent formation of the School of Arts & Sciences, both artistic and scientific projects will be part of the symposium. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
