Men's lacrosse attracts players nationwide

Lacrosse may be just catching on in many places in the West, but it already has long and successful roots here on the Fort Lewis campus. And as a Club Sport, anyone looking to give it a try can join in the fun and challenge of FLC Men's LAX.

Men's Lacrosse is the second longest running Club Sport at Fort Lewis, behind only the Ski Team, dating back more than 25 years.

Hunter to become new director of athletics at Fort Lewis College

Gary Hunter will become Fort Lewis College’s new director of athletics, FLC President Dene Kay Thomas announced today. Hunter will officially begin September 1, 2011.

Hunter has been on campus for several weeks acting as a consultant to the Fort Lewis College Athletic Department. He has been working closely with athletic staff and coaches in preparation for the upcoming season.

Where in the world will YOU make a difference?

This year, a group of Fort Lewis students and their faculty mentors changed the world. A little bit, anyway.

For three weeks this May, 18 students and their faculty mentors volunteered their professional skills in Laos, building water system for two villages. The team constructed water collection systems, pipelines, and storage tanks in the Hmong villages of Ban Nakamphaeng and Ban Pakhom, in northwest Laos.

"College is about adventure and exploring and expanding your understanding of the world. But it's hard to really do that if you're just in a classroom," says Director of International Programs Jennifer Gay. "You've got to get out there in the world and challenge yourself. That's why I recommend every student study abroad sometime in their college career."

Fort Lewis College chosen as one of the Princeton Review's "Best in the West" colleges

Fort Lewis College is one of the Princeton Review’s “Best in the West” colleges, it was announced today. This puts Fort Lewis on an elite list of 121 colleges in the western United States that are above-the-rest academically.
