Advice on navigating financial aid available at College Goal Sunday at Fort Lewis College

On Sunday, February 9, Fort Lewis College will host College Goal Sunday. The aim is to connect students interested in college and their families with financial aid professionals. The event offers guidance on ways to pay for college, specifically how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is a crucial step in the college planning process. College Goal Sunday is free, open to everyone, and will take place from 1-3 p.m. in Reed Library on campus.

History students make the past accessible

Some formerly disorganized and inaccessible historical records of Fort Lewis College will be available to researchers of the future thanks to the hands-on efforts of students in a new course on Archival Theory & Practice.

“As the de facto college archivist, I felt a certain responsibility to help our students experience the practical side of the course,” says FLC Cataloger and Records Processor PeeKay Briggs. “Since archives are the 'labs' historians work in, we chose to create a lab for these future historians and archives users – and hopefully budding archivists.”

Fort Lewis College and Tax Help Colorado to offer free tax preparation assistance

Running throughout the month of February, Fort Lewis College will host and help staff a site for Tax Help Colorado. Sponsored by the Piton Foundation and Colorado’s colleges and universities, Tax Help Colorado offers free income tax preparation for households making less than $50,000 per year

Cycling team celebrates 20th anniversary with shot at another #1 season

As the Fort Lewis College Cycling team heads to Boulder for the USA Cycling Cyclo-Cross National Championships this weekend, they'll be competing in the first race of their 20th anniversary year. And come May, they hope to celebrate that milestone in an appropriate manner: with another #1 season. At the nationals, January 8 - 12, FLC aims to boost its shot at earning a fifth #1 Division I end-of-season ranking, adding another memorable year to the team's two decades of cycling excellence. Going into this weekend's competition, Skyhawks Cycling is tied for the #1 position for omnium title for the '13 - '14 season.
