Finish in Four! program helps students graduate on time and on budget

But the rewards can be many -- personal accomplishment, financial savings, and moving on to the next stage of your career-building. “The value of finishing in four years to me is that I'll be able to graduate with minimal debt, while being able to jump into my career as soon as possible,” says Megan Butterman, a freshman from Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Fort Lewis College joins the national campaign for “real food”

Fort Lewis College is only the second college in Colorado to sign the Real Food Challenge (RFC) Commitment. To commemorate this milestone, the College is hosting the Real Food Chow Down on March 18th in the Student Union’s San Juan Dining area. The Chow Down showcases the RFC’s definition of “real” food, which is food that upholds social welfare, environmental sustainability, and physical health. Read the rest of entry »

FLC Biology professor is first to win national Excellence in Education award

Assistant Professor of Biology Heidi Steltzer is the first recipient of the Sulzman Award for Excellence in Education and Mentoring from the American Geophysical Union. The award acknowledges both creativity in research and leadership in forging the next generation of scientists. The Sulzman Award is named for the late Elizabeth Sulzman, a scientist and teacher at Oregon State University remembered for her tremendous impact on her students.

FLC Hockey team scores with campus and Durango community

In hockey-crazy Durango, having a new game in town is always welcome. And Durango has zealously welcomed the squad from Fort Lewis College as it brought collegiate hockey to the town's home ice. The 2013-14 season marks FLC Hockey's first season in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. In the league, the Skyhawks play a 15-game schedule against teams from Colorado and New Mexico, including trips to Denver to challenge the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Colorado-Denver, to Albuquerque to face off against the University of New Mexico, and to Gunnison, Colorado, to take on nearby rival Western State Colorado University.
