Howdy ho FLC Cycling fans! That’s right, it’s that time of year again… it’s time for FLC Cycling’s Squawker Mountain Bike Classic.  The fun begins on October 4th with two gravity events including practice and qualifiers on an exciting new, true dual slalom course loaded with berms and sweet jumps at Chapman Hill. Then for some daring and dangerous racing on what will be a challenging version of the Log Chutes downhill course you’ve all come to know and love.  Also on Saturday, you endurance hounds will be able to test your mettle on Durango’s finest and fastest short track course up on the FLC campus, behind the Bader Dorms with a challenging mix of ripping single track and dirt roads.

Sunday will start with more Dual fun down on Chapman hill as our qualifiers from the previous days racing will battle it out in the early morning sun.  Sunday also brings a new course for the Cross Country race that starts behind the Bader dorms, down the Front Hill trail, up the front hill for 5 yards, over to the Nature trail, up to the Rim trail around to Chapman, down to the Lion’s Den, back up to the Rim Trail to the corner of the golf course, crossing Rim Dr., along the fence line, crossing Ft. Lewis Dr. onto the Rim Trail back over to the start. For those accessing those trails from campus that day for hiking/biking be aware that there will be a race going on.

We look forward to giving all of you a warm FLC Cycling welcome and to a weekend of great racing here in Durango. Please join us on the trails that make Durango famous and help us unveil our new, wonderful courses. We’ll see you there!
