The Fort Lewis College student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery and the Computer Science Department sponsor a lecture by Chris McMahon entitled “What the Bleep Do We Test?” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17 in 65 Education/Business Hall. Admission is free.
McMahon works for Verint, a software development organization. Verint is one of Durango’s premier tech companies.
“We don’t test buildings, we don’t test novels. Why do we test software?” asks McMahon. “How do we test software? And who does the testing?”
According to Professor of Computer Science Evans Adams, McMahon will deliver an entertaining and informative talk on the evolution of software testing theory and practice. Adams encourages people to learn about common software engineering principles.
“From ‘throwing it over the wall,’ to test automation, to unit testing and cutting-edge agile methods, Chris has seen it all and done most of it,” said Adams. “This report from the field is essential information for prospective developers, testers and tech managers.”
