DURANGO - The Small Business Development Center located at Fort Lewis College is offering a Starting Your Business workshop in Durango, in the Sunlight Room of the Durango Recreation Center. This half day seminar will put you on the right track, by providing you with information specific to starting or growing a small business. This seminar will greatly improve your confidence and your business’ chance of success.
The Starting Your Business workshop will be held on Wednesday October 8th in the Sunlight Room of the Durango Community -Recreation Center (2700 Main Ave), 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuition is $15.00 and the registration deadline is October 3rd; although walk-ins will be welcome, only the first 15 registrations will be guaranteed a space.
The First National Bank of Durango’s Beverly Ellis will bring financial expertise to the workshop, offering practical advice on the, “business banking side of starting your business.” Covering everything from how to estimate revenue, to why your banker should be on your ‘board of directors’, Ellis’ presentation will be full of business knowhow you can put to use.
Jack Llewellyn from the Durango Chamber of Commerce will cover the nuts and bolts of marketing. His diverse marketing experience and brilliant presentation skills will leave you with new marketing ideas and greater confidence that you can effectively market your business.
Director of the Small Business Development Center, Joe Keck, will finish with the business coaching that completes the workshop. He will cover topics such as what legal structure is best for you, what your business plan should include, how to keep track of your accounts, as well as how to use regional marketing advice and data. With so much employable information, the Starting Your Business Workshop is sure to be a boost for your small business.
