National Student Exchange

Financial Aid

Students in the NSE program ARE ELIGIBLE for Federal Financial Aid, if they qualify. The FAFSA must be submitted. Students applying for exchange on outgoing Plan A are only eligible for financial aid at their host school and should list their host (exchange) school’s code on their FAFSA form.

FLC Students applying for exchange on outgoing Plan B use Fort Lewis’s code on their FAFSA form.

Western Undergraduate Exchange program (WUE) and the New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship Program 

Fort Lewis students who have previously participated in the Western Undergraduate Exchange program or the New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship Program ARE ELIGIBLE for program scholarships while on exchange under outgoing Plan B.

NSE and the Native American-Native Alaskan Tuition Waiver

Under Plan A, qualifying Native American and Native Alaskan students from other NSE campuses ARE ELIGIBLE for the Native American Tuition Waiver while on exchange at Fort Lewis. A Certificate of Indian Blood will be required. 

Under Outgoing Plan B, qualifying Native American and Native Alaskan students from Fort Lewis can utilize the Native American Tuition Waiver and pay no additional tuition while on exchange.

Please contact the FLC-NSE coordinator for details on tuition-free exchange for all qualified Native American and Native Alaskan students.

Other Financial Aid and Funding Sources

For private scholarships or other financial aid including loans, students should contact their funding source before exchange to determine eligibility while participating in the program.
