Student Outdoor Leadership

SOL (Student Outdoor Leadership) is a program designed to develop students to lead pre-orientation outdoor trips (Peak Experiences) as well as trips for Outdoor Pursuits during the academic year.   The program seeks to utilize outdoor adventures to cultivate character development and leadership competence.

Every SOL leader’s career begins with a three-week intensive training in May where they learn about such topics as leadership models and development, van and trailer driver training, trip planning and logistics, group and social dynamics, backcountry living and travel skills, LNT principles and field risk management scenarios.

Why not spend your college career getting paid to be outdoors while leading your peers on adventures in the southwest and beyond?
