Freshman Scholarships and Awards
Fort Lewis College offers an array of scholarships designed to reward first-time freshman students who demonstrate academic achievement, strong academic promise, leadership ability and/or a strong commitment to community service or co-curricular activities. All freshmen who meet the minimum academic criteria will be considered; there is no additional paperwork required. In order to be considered for one of our merit and award based programs, students must apply for admission by January 15, 2007


Fort Lewis Merit Scholarship for Colorado Residents
     -  For residents of Colorado
     -  $500 annual award to all students with a 92 index or higher
     -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
     -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

WUE - Western Undergraduate Exchange Scholarship Program
     -  For students who live in WUE states:  AK, AZ, CA, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, ND,
        OR, SD, UT, WA, WY
     -  1.5 times the in-state tuition rate for students with a 92 index or higher
     -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whic
hever comes first
     -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

Fort Lewis Merit Scholarship for Non-Colorado Residents 
     -  For students who don't live in a WUE state 
     -  $1,000 annual award to students with a 92 index or higher
     -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
     -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

New Mexico Reciprocal Agreement (limited in quantity)
     -  For students who live in New Mexico, with priority given to San Juan County
        residents
     -  In-state tuition rate for students with a 101 index or higher
     -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
     -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

WUE - Western Undergraduate Exchange for New Mexico Residents
     -  For New Mexico residents who don't receive the New Mexico Reciprocal
        Award 
     -  1.5 times the in-state tuition rate for students with a 92 index or higher
     -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
     -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

Fort Lewis Achievers Scholarship 
     -  $500 to $1,500 annual award to high achieving students with a commitment
        to community service and leadership activities
     -  Applicant must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
        (FAFSA) to be considered
     -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
     -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

Resident and Non-Resident Native American Scholarships
     -  Native American Tuition Waiver
     -  $500 Merit Scholarship for Colorado residents (see above for details)
     -  $1,000 Merit Scholarship for out-of-state residents (see above for details)

Transfer Scholarships and Awards
Transfer students from Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Mountain College or Front Range Community College in Colorado and San Juan College in New Mexico are eligible for the Baccalaureate Bound Scholarship.  All NEW transfer applicants from these four colleges who have completed at least 13 college credits and meet Fort Lewis College admission requirements will be considered; there is no additional paperwork required.  



Colorado Baccalaureate Bound Scholarship
 
    -  $500 annual award to qualifying transfer students
     -  Applicant must be accepted for the scholarship application term
     -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
     -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year
  San Juan College, New Mexico (SJC) Baccalaureate Bound Scholarship
       Colorado Residents
           -  $500 annual award to qualifying Colorado resident SJC students
           -  Applicant must be accepted for the scholarship application term
           -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
           -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

       New Mexico Residents
          Colorado-New Mexico Reciprocal Award (in-state tuition; limited in quantity)
              -  Must have a 3.5 GPA or higher to qualify
              -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
              -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

          WUE Award (1.5 times in-state tuition)
              -  Must reside in a WUE state (most SJC students are NM residents)
              -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
              -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year
 
          San Juan College Honors Students
              -  $1,000 to SJC Honors students
              -  Guaranteed for a total of 8 semesters or 120 credits, whichever comes first
              -  Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 30 credits per academic year

       Resident and Non-Resident Native Americans
           -  Native American Tuition Waiver
           -  Also eligible for the Honors award
