Transfer of Credit

General guideline in transfer
of credit:

  • Credits more than 10 years old in your declared major or auxiliary requirements will not be automatically accepted. The major department at Fort Lewis College must validate these credits.
  • General Education courses more than 10 years old may be transferred.

  • Courses accepted in transfer become part of the credit hours completed but are not used in grade point average (GPA) calculations. The Fort Lewis College GPA is based on work completed at Fort Lewis College only.
  • Course equivalency may be granted for a lower-division course from another college that is an upper-division course at Fort Lewis College, but the course will not count as upper-division credit at Fort Lewis. Credits earned at a two-year college cannot be used to meet Fort Lewis College’s credit requirements in upper-division courses.
  • Maximum number of credits that may transfer to Fort Lewis College is 90 credits from a four-year institution and 60 credits from a community college or junior college.

Courses that will transfer:

  • regular, college level academic courses
  • completed with grades of “C-“ or better
  • taken at a regionally accredited collegiate institution
