Sources for Still Images

There are images you can download for free from the Web.  These images are not copyrighted, either because the copyright has expired or because they were not copyrightable in the first place.

     Download free clipart (40,000 images available), send a postcard to a friend, or send an animated GIF.

     Hundreds of images available to use free in non-commercial sites. Give credit by including their logo and information if you use their images.

     Photography Collection Denver Public Library Western History/Genealogy Department:  http://gowest.coalliance.org
     Denver Public has made available 50,000 of some 600,000 images, including images of such things as Native Americans, pioneers, early railroads,
mining, Denver and Colorado towns. Notable collections depict the daily lives of the Tenth Mountain Division ski troops and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show

A new project called AMICO (Art Museum Image Consortium) among American and Canadian museums will put images and text from their collections on line for use by the educational community.   http://www.amn.org/AMICO/

In addition, there are many companies that create two-dimensional artwork or have stock photographs available in many genres for sale or for license for specific projects.

Sources for Audio Materials

There is a collection of about 60 compact disks of sound effects available on four-hour reserve at the Circulation Desk in the John F. Reed Library.  Ask for the catalog of sound effects for more information.
