There are images you can download for free from the Web. These images
are not copyrighted, either because the copyright has expired or because they
were not copyrightable in the first place.

Denver Public has made available 50,000 of some 600,000

A new project called AMICO (Art Museum Image Consortium) among American and Canadian museums will put images and text from their collections on line for use by the educational community. http://www.amn.org/AMICO/
In addition, there are many companies that create two-dimensional artwork or
have stock photographs available in many genres for sale or for license for
specific projects.
