The Winter 2012 semester Workshop schedule is posted below. The workshops cover a variety of topics which enhance current skills or introduce new skills that will contribute to academic success. Additionally, the STEM3 department will be hosting a social event and one game get together each month.
If you would like to request more information about a specific workshop then please e-mail Shaun Loveless with the STEM department. If you would like to sign up for a workshop, social activity or game get together then please use the web form below.
This will help us anticipate who is coming and plan refreshments.
STEM3 Hosted Workshops
January
January 11th - Back to School Celebration & Pot Luck from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the STEM3 Lounge. Join us to celebrate the beginning of the winter 2012 semester.
January 25th - Scholarship Information Workshop hosted by Theresa Rodriguez from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. covering scholarship opportunities for STEM3 students. The room location will be announced in the next week.
January 30th - Graduate School Workshop: Is Graduate School Right for Me? Sign up and attend this collaborate workshop hosted by Fort Lewis College Career Services, STEM3, PAA and MARC U*STAR. You will have the opportunity to learn about graduate school, discover your options, introduce yourself to the world of graduate school terms and identify funding possibilities. The Workshop for science focused students will be held in the SUN 0213 (La Plata Room) from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is a great way to begin cultivating a understanding of Graduate School and your invited to schedule one-on-one mentoring meetings with advisors after attending this initial workshop!
January 31st - STEM3 Night at Durango Joe's Open Mic, hosted by Susan from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come watch others and perform on stage at the family-friendly open Mic at the Towne Plaza Durango Joe's location. This is an opportunity to meet other creative individuals in STEM3, perform on stage, and watch others perform. Be sure to sign in with Susan for workshop credit!
February
February 1st - Career Services Job Fair hosted by the Fort Lewis College Career Services department. The job fair will be held in the Student Union Ball room from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. You must sign up with the STEM3 staff member who attends to receive workshop credit.
February 7th - STEM3 Game Night - Join us @ 4 p.m. for a few hours of Uno, Cranium, Scrabble and Chess. Classic games and guarenteed fun!
February 8th - FAFSA Night!!! Reed 2D 5 p.m.-6 p.m. - Join STEM3 staff for assistance with filling out your FAFSA form and receive workshop credit. Depending upon the number of students who sign up, refreshments may or may not be served. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to join us.
February 15th - Making the Fort Work for You! The workshop will be held in Noble Hall, room 130, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. This workshop is hosted by two Fort Lewis College Seniors and will offer up solutions based on personal experience to many of the complex challenges that students are faced with around the campus.
February 25th - TRiO Day

March 27th - Food for Critical Thought Workshop: From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Student Union.

January
January 16th - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Join the Fort Lewis College community to celebrate MLK day by attending any of these three events. Beginning at 12:20 p.m., a March of Solidarity will start at the Center of Southwest Studies and end at Union Plaza. Cocoa will be served at the end of the march in Union Plaza. From 1:30-3:30, Code Red & Embracing Diversity Initiation will be held in the Vallecito room. Beginning at 7 p.m., attend the documentary Precious Knowledge which details ethnic studies programs under fire in the Tucson High School district.
