Colorado residency is based on:

  • Continuous physical presence in the State of Colorado for the twelve months immediately preceding the term for which you wish to be considered for in-state residency.
  • Proof of intent to become a Colorado resident for the twelve months immediately preceding the term for which you wish to be considered for in-state residency (see #2 below).
  • Financial emancipation, if you are 22 years of age or younger at start of term, for the twelve months immediately preceding the term for which you wish to be considered for in-state residency. Emancipation is defined as parental relinquishment of any and all financial support to the student.
