Title III Opportunities for Fort Lewis College STEM Faculty
STEM faculty may request funds in different categories:
-
Professional development
-
Professional travel
-
Instructional materials and resources (including technology)
-
Guest speakers and on-campus workshops for faculty development.
-
Additionally, STEM faculty are eligible for funding by participating in the 2012 Faculty Task Force. As in 2011, Task Force members will have the opportunity to pursue self-directed research or activities in areas such as assessment tools, website development and online tutorials, calculator resources, etc.
To request funding:
Faculty may request funds to support implementation of a current year objective or to prepare for objective implementation in the following year, but requests for funds must be tied directly to project objectives.
An example of current year objective implementation: Infusing math concepts into a Geoscience course is an objective for 2011-2012, so a Geoscience instructor could request funds to purchase materials that students use to apply math skills in their courses.
An example of preparing for implementation of an objective in the following year: Infusing math competencies and new instructional strategies into Physics and Engineering courses is an objective for 2012-2013. An Engineering or Physics instructor could request travel funds to attend a conference that would provide information in preparation for this work.
The links below provide specific information about each of the types of requests. Please contact the Activity Coordinator, Cathy Hartney,
hartney_c@fortlewis.edu, 970 247 7373, if you have questions about a funding request.
We welcome your ideas! Please send us suggestions for supporting these objectives. Let us know what you would find helpful.
