Information Technology URL Forwarding Service FAQ
What is the purpose?
This service is being provided by Information Technology for the purpose of providing shorter web addresses(URLs). By providing shorter urls,
departmental webpages, and other important Fort Lewis College webpages can be more easily remembered and entered by the users. This service is
especially useful in printed material such as brochures and letters.
How does it work?
When a person browsing the web enters one of the Short URLs in the URL
Forwarding Service List, the URL Fowarding Service will process it and redirect the browser to the
specified Forwarded To address. For example if a person types www.fortlewis.edu/jobs in the browser address bar the URL Forwarding Service will
redirect the browser to www.fortlewis.edu/administrative_services/human_resources/jobslist.asp.
How do I request a Short URL?
