Summer Conference and Group Meeting Opportunities

The Durango, Colorado area is blessed with outstanding natural and cultural resources that offer many recreational and educational experiences-from river rafting, mountain biking, hiking, swimming in hot spring pools, visiting archaeological sites, boating, riding the Alpine Slide at Purgatory Ski Area, and riding the historic Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Train.

These resource amenities coupled with Fort Lewis College's housing, food services, classrooms, equipment and recreational facilities make a conference or group function an enjoyable and affordable option.





Please note that the following information pertains to the summer of 2008.

 

 



Lodging Options and Prices

Traditional dormitory room
  • $15.00/person/night, double occupancy
  • $30.00/person/night, single occupancy
  • Linens are available upon advance request for an additional $2.00/person/night
Double/Triple suite style room
  • $18.00/person/night, double occupancy
  • $36.00/person/night, single occupancy
  • Linens are available upon advance request for an additional $2.00/person/night
Two bed apartment
  • $25.00/person/night, double occupancy
  • $50.00/person/night, single occupancy
  • Linens are available upon advance request for an additional $2.00/person/night
Four bed apartment
  • $17.50/person/night, full occupancy
  • $70.00/person/night, single occupancy
  • Linens are available upon advance request for an additional $2.00/person/night

Participants staying in residence halls are expected to comply with all residence halls regulations.

  • Clean, comfortable and convenient Room Furnishings provided are:  two single beds, two closets, two desks and chairs.   A mattress pad, pillow and pillow case are provided.  Linens are available for an additional fee and upon advance request.  Linens provided are: sheets, blanket, small bath towel and hand towel.  For guests staying longer than six days, a weekly linen exchange is available.  
  • Bar soap, toilet paper, small plastic cups and trash bags are provided.
  • Telephones are not provided in the rooms, but may be checked out from the check-in offices. 
  • Each room or apartment is wired for cable TV. Please provide your own TV and co-ax cable.
  • Housekeeping service is not provided.  
  • Each participant is responsible for garbage removal and general cleanliness of their own room. Excess trash fees may be assessed.
  • Shared bathroom facilities and common areas are cleaned daily.  Private bathrooms are only cleaned upon departure.  
  • For long stays on campus, cleaning supplies are available from the check-in offices.
  • Participants will be charged for damages to rooms and lost keys.
  • All lodging is subject to a 9.9% sales and lodgers tax, unless a sales tax exempt certificate is provided.
  • Rooms are not air conditioned but nights are cool in Colorado

  • Shampoo/conditioner
  • Water glass
  • Fan

  • Other personal care items
  • Coffee and coffee pot

Meal Options and Prices

Our food service is able to do a variety of catered breakfasts, lunches, dinners, buffets, receptions, barbecues, etc. The College has a large ballroom that will seat up to 400 people for a served dinner.


3 Meals per day in the College Cafeteria $21.00/person/day
Breakfast in the College Cafeteria $6.25/person/day
Lunch in the College Cafeteria $7.50/person/day
Dinner in the College Cafeteria $8.75/person/day
  • All meals are subject to 7.9% tax, unless a sales tax exempt certificate is provided to the Student Housing and Conference Services Office.
  • Jazzman's Cafe serves a la carte items and is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 am. to 1:00 p.m.

Classroom/Meeting Room Rates:

Fort Lewis College has a wide variety of classroom and meeting room facilities. Non-FLC related programs must pay a room rental fee when reserving meeting space for their conference group.  Non-Profit group prices vary from $25.00/day to $200.00/day depending on the room. For-Profit group prices are double the Non-Profit rates.

Our larger rooms are priced at the following:

 Ballroom (Please call for availability in 2009)  $200/day (Non-Profit) 
 Noble Hall Room 130  $25/hour or maximum of $100.00/day
 Memorial Student Lounge (Please call for availability in 2009  $150/day (Non-Profit)



Set-Up Fee Schedule

  • non-refundable set-up fee of between $5.00 and $15.00 per person will be charged, depending on the level of services needed.
  • Some of these services would be:
    • accepting program reservations and arranging for set-up of facilities
    • making on-campus housing reservations
    • making arrangements for meals or meeting rooms
    • AV equipment
    • welcome sign
    • name badges
    • check-in/out services.

Concert Hall

  • The current fee for a non-profit group from La Plata County is $600/day Sunday - Thursday (plus 6% of gross ticket sales).
  • The current fee for a non-profit group from La Plata County is $750.00/day, Friday - Saturday (plus 6% of gross ticket sales).
  • The fee for a non-profit group outside of La Plata County is $750.00/day, Sunday - Thursday (plus 6% of gross ticket sales or a minimum guarantee of $900.00, whichever is greater).
  • The fee for a non-profit group outside of La Plata County is $900.00/day, Friday - Saturday (plus 6% of gross ticket sales).
  • The fee for a commercial (for-profit group) is $900.00/day (plus 6% of gross ticket sales or a minimum guarantee of $1200.00, whichever is greater).
  • Labor costs for technical staff are passed on to the renter.
  • Lighting technicians are $20/hour and sound technicians are $30/hour.

Student Life Center

Our Student Life Center is available for Conference group use. This is a two-story, 48,000-square foot building that includes three basketball courts, one racquetball court, a track, climbing wall, workout areas with cardio and weights, aerobics and dance studios. Student Life Center fees depend on the size of the group and the hours needed.  Advance reservations required.

Climbing Wall Rental

Interested in offering a unique challenge that provides teambuilding and facilitates interactive group dynamics?  Rent the Fort Lewis College Climbing Wall as an “add-on” experience for your group and/or church.  The 2,800 square foot climbing wall is designed for all ability levels from no experience to expert routes.  The wall rents for $100/hour with a two hour minimum.  Rental rate includes exclusive use of the climbing wall for your group, harnesses, helmets, and climbing wall staff that provide supervision, belays, and instruction.  The climbing wall can accommodate up to 30 people an hour with each person attempting/completing 2-5 climbs.  Reservations are required and must be made at least 21 days in advance.  A completed  Agreement to Participate and Release is required for each group member who wishes to use the Climbing Wall.

Other Campus Facilities

Amphitheater
The Amphitheater accommodates 200 people and is a popular site for an evening barbecue. Additional tables and seating can be set up for just such an event.

Ballroom (Please call for availability in 2009)
The Ballroom holds approximately 500 people and can be used as a large lecture hall.

Stadium
The Stadium has seating for 1620. Stadium fees are assessed by the Athletic Department.

Indoor Pool
The indoor pool may be reserved for exclusive use at $125/hour, 150 maximum participant occupancy, with a two hour minimum.


Parking on Campus

Fort Lewis College has ample parking that is free in the summertime.
