For Faculty

You are our most valuable resource here at FLC, and we know that you sometimes feel stretched to your limits.  Our tutors can provide one-on-one support for your students while you focus on your goals for the academic year.

You can send students to us knowing that they’ll get a personal approach from trained coaches who are collaborators, not evaluators or critics. We engage writers in discussions that allow them to develop their own ideas and solutions. Each session is individualized; nothing generic here.

Our tutors support student writers at varying levels of proficiency and from courses and disciplines across campus.  We assist writers with assignments such as business and lab reports, term papers, technical writing projects, and job resumes and applications.  We can help students polish a final draft or generate ideas and a research strategy for a new assignment.

Writing Center tutors are also available for more intensive support for your specific courses and assignments.  Please contact us if you are interested in exploring how this might work in your classroom.  In past Writing Center collaborations with faculty, our tutors have: attended classes to assist in student drafting and revision; received focused training on the assignments and grading criteria for a specific course; and prepared resources and materials to support student writers in a specific discipline.

We are here to support you and your students. Our belief is that writing skills are key in every curriculum, in every aspect of self-expression, and as a representation of Fort Lewis as a Liberal Arts institution.
