Public health guidance issued for face coverings

April 2, 2020

Dear Skyhawks,

Local public health officials issued recommendations for individuals to use face coverings when leaving the home for essential travel to the grocery store, doctor, or pharmacy. Safely cover your face with a bandana or homemade cotton face covering, reserving hospital grade masks for health care workers and those who are sick.* [see full guidance in press release]

FLC essential personnel and residents are strongly encouraged to follow these guidelines while on campus. We are sharing this information with all FLC staff, faculty, and students to remind everyone to continue taking actions to stop the spread of COVID-19. We can keep our community safe by staying home and following this public health guidance.

Do your part and stay healthy, Skyhawks!

*Updated guidance August 2020: public health officials have advised against using face coverings such as buffs, neck gaiters, or bandanas as they do not effectively reduce the spread of respiratory droplets. Masks, either multi-layered cloth or surgical, with ear loops or ties and that fit snugly around the chin, mouth, and nose are recommended.
