Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper
Fort Lewis College (FLC) Spring Commencement will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Two ceremonies will be held in Whalen Gym to accommodate the graduates. The first begins at 8:30 a.m. with the second following at 11:30 a.m. A list of the majors awarded at each ceremony can be found at www.fortlewis.edu/graduation.
Nearly 500 Skyhawks will bring their undergraduate careers to a successful conclusion at commencement. Addressing them as Commencement Speaker will be John Hickenlooper, governor of Colorado.
Governor Hickenlooper was inaugurated to his current post in 2011 after serving as mayor of Denver since 2003. His work as mayor earned him a spot on Time Magazine’s list of the country’s top big-city mayors. When he became governor, he was the first Denver mayor to make that transition in 150 years. He is also the first Colorado governor to have a geology background, and the first brewer to be elected governor since Sam Adams in 1792.
Governor Hickenlooper is a friend of Fort Lewis College. He has been an advocate for the efforts to support the FLC Native American Tuition Waiver program and has visited campus to speak on the importance of graduating more teachers in Colorado.
Both Commencement ceremonies will be live streamed on the Fort Lewis College Facebook page at www.facebook.com/fortlewis.
Congratulations to all the graduates and go Skyhawks!
