Environment & Climate Institute classYour trail to discovery

A partnership with Fort Lewis College and the Southwest Colorado Education Collaborative created an Environmental Pathway for high school students. You’ll meet like-minded peers and connect with college mentors as you explore college and career opportunities that align with your environmental interests.

Who’s invited and how much does it cost?

This free program is available to high school students in Archuleta, Bayfield, Durango, Ignacio, and Silverton school districts.

What will we do?

The action-packed EP integrates classroom work with outdoor learning excursions, mobile learning labs, career exploration, and FLC dual-enrollment courses. From summer programming to college- level courses, you can choose the next steps of your academic journey. The EP will expose you to a variety of environmental topics, and your level of participation is based on your interests. We expect most students will dedicate three to four hours a month to the EP. (This does not include dual-enrollment courses should you decide to enroll.)

Environment & Climate InstituteKick off the school year with the Summer Institute!

The EP begins each year with the Summer Institute hosted by Fort Lewis College. You’re invited to stay overnight in the FLC dorms and participate in activities, including community-based projects across the Four Corners region, life skills training, career exploration, and relationship building. All program costs, transportation, lodging, and meals are included.
