Ellen Roberts

Ellen Roberts is a lawyer in Durango and works as a natural resources consultant with governmental entities, nonprofits and private foundations on forest health restoration and watershed protection. She’s been on Fort Lewis College’s board of trustees since 2018 and is a member of the Governance and Business Affairs committees.

Ellen and her husband Rick raised their two children, including a FLC alumna, in Durango and have been area residents for over 30 years.  Ellen was elected to the Colorado legislature for 10 years, representing many counties in the southwestern corner of the state, and served her last two years in the General Assembly as Senate President Pro Tempore.  

In addition to being a trustee at Fort Lewis College, Ellen currently serves as a gubernatorial appointee to the board of History Colorado, the statewide historical association and an agency in the Colorado Department of Higher Education.  A graduate of the University of Colorado’s School of Law, Ellen received her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, in Ithaca, NY.
