Acknowledging the trauma of Indian boarding schools
Monday, September 6, 2021
Please join us on Monday, September 6th, for the ceremonial removal of the Fort Lewis College Indian Boarding School panels that are currently in our Clocktower. We are removing these panels since they are an inaccurate and disrespectful depiction of the Indian Boarding School era and experience. By removing them, we are acknowledging the trauma that was invoked by that experience. Our hope is that the healing process will begin for everyone affiliated with Fort Lewis College.
Please note that no video or audio recording will be permitted at the ceremony.
