Career Profile: Community service and volunteerism have been long-standing traditions in Cissy Anderson’s family. A fourth generation Texan, she was born in Corpus Christi. In her professional career, she has taught elementary school and art and English as a Second Language. She has developed and led docent training courses for museums; illustrated textbooks for the visually impaired; and worked as a graphics artist. Her husband’s corporate relocations always opened new avenues and often presented unique opportunities for community service. Most recently, she has focused on the changing nature of volunteer organizations and volunteerism in this country.
