How does the testing center accommodate students with disabilities?

Fort Lewis College Testing Center provides a low-distraction environment for students to take exams using reasonable accommodation.  Kristin Polens will work with the student to determine if a reasonable accommodation is possible and how the accommodations will be coordinated.

How do I make an appointment at the testing center?

Students with approved testing accommodations may take their tests in Noble Hall, Room 287, during the hours of operation.  It is highly recommended to make final exam appointments 14 days in advance due to limited space availability.  It is also recommended that a student communicate with the professor when deciding to use the testing center to help manage the appointment coordination.
All exams are scheduled:

 Changes to the date and/or time of an appointment must be approved in writing by your professor.  Please notify the testing center staff once the approval is confirmed. You may forward the email from your professor or in AIM under Alternative Testing make a note and submit the change.
It is important that every effort is made to be on time for appointments.

How will my test travel between the Professor and the testing center?

Each professor decides how the testing center will receive the test. Options include:

  • Test can be uploaded into AIM by professor.
  • Test can be emailed to
  • Test can be delivered by the faculty member to Noble 280 or slipped under the door of room 287.
  • Test can be brought by student to the testing center if in a sealed and signed envelope provided by the professor.

The professor also decides how the testing center will returned the test. Options include:

  • Test can be returned to the professor's office or mailbox by a testing center student worker.
  • Test can be sent back by student in a sealed and signed envelope provided by testing center staff.
  • Test can be picked up by the professor from the testing center mailbox in Noble 280.

What if I need to change or cancel my appointment?

Please contact your professor to discuss options for rescheduling.  Next, Log into your AIM account and click on Alternative Testing and make the changes in your appointed time. The Testing Center Coordinator will then approve the change or not.

Testing Center Policies


  • Students may only use approved accommodations, unless special arrangements have been made with a professor.
  • Students must surrender the test to the proctor at the end of the testing period.
  • The testing center is guided by the principles of academic integrity. Any student found cheating by the proctor will not be allowed to complete the test and will be reported to the professor and the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
