What is the ACT?

The ACT is America's most widely accepted college entrance exam. It assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.

How do I register for the ACT?

To register for the ACT you may pick up a registration packet from your high school guidance counselor or you may register online at www.actstudent.org. If you fail to register by the registration deadline, you may attempt to test “stand-by”. Stand-by students should fill out an ACT registration packet in advance and show up on the test date with the completed packet and photo ID. If there are materials and an available seat, the stand-by student will be admitted to test.
