Harmonious careers happen here
Tune your education to find success in your greatest passion
Whether you’re a drummer, singer, songwriter, or pursuer of any other aspect of the musical craft, FLC’s Music major offers an unparalleled opportunity to build your experience, express yourself, and achieve your goals. Join bands, choirs, orchestras, or ensembles; work alongside professionals with the Artist in Residence program; perform! No matter what career path you choose, you’ll graduate ready to shine.
Admission to FLC and the Music Department is a dual admission process. Application to the College is through the Admission Office. Admission to the Music Department and its degree programs must be made through an audition admission process. You may audition prior to acceptance by the Admission Office; however, acceptance to the Music Department does not guarantee admission to Fort Lewis College.
"At FLC, students pursue their musical dreams while developing their individual skills. We also love to create and collaborate through coursework, musical performances, and local and international community outreach. "
Between chances to perform on campus and in Durango, and the opportunity to learn from professional musicians serving as guest artists, you’ll have an abundance of musical experience under belt before you graduate.
You will have the opportunity to perform in the symphonic band, chamber orchestra, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, concert choir, men’s choir, chamber choir, and other instrumental and vocal chamber ensembles.
Upper-division string students are able to audition for the San Juan Symphony Orchestra. The SJSO is a semi-professional orchestra whose members come from Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado.
The program presents a variety of concerts and master classes by guest artists to enhance your musical education. An endowment has been established to support the program and has grown to well over $100,000.
