The Writing Center seeks enthusiastic peer educators to join our staff. Writing Center tutors have the opportunity to mentor writers from disciplines across campus, and to develop their own writing skills. As a Writing Center tutor, you will spend most of your time talking with students one-on-one: listening, asking questions, and discussing choices as writers brainstorm, draft, and refine their papers. You’ll also attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development activities. You may also represent the Writing Center at campus events and work on other projects, like creating instructional materials, trying out education-related technology, and helping us develop new programs and services.
We encourage applications from individuals who are passionate about writing and have strong academic skills. Preference may be given to applicants with prior areas of expertise, such as tutoring, ESL, or peer mentorship. Qualifications:
