COVID safety during your visit

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our campus visits have been modified for your health and safety and that of our campus community. Precautions include:

  • Please do not come to campus if you are sick, if you have symptoms of COVID, if you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, or if you have been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • All guests are required to wear masks while on campus. All FLC students, staff, and faculty will also be wearing masks. Neck gaiters, bandannas, and face shields are not sufficient. If you do not have a mask, we are happy to provide you with one.
  • We will ensure that everyone respects physical distancing guidelines (6 feet apart) inside and outside during your visit.
  • We ensure that all frequently touched surfaces are cleaned and disinfected regularly.
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout campus.

Getting to Durango & lodging

Looking for the best way to get to Durango? Check out our Maps, Directions, & Parking page. If you’ll be staying at a hotel in Durango, be sure to mention that you’re visiting FLC. Many hotels offer discounts to visiting students and families. If you're looking for somewhere to stay, check out the resources on our Lodging page. If you want to get to know Durango while you're here, check out our Things to Do page

Taking care of yourself while you're here

Durango is dry, high, (6,512 feet above sea level, to be exact), and usually sunny (300+ sunny days a year). The semi-arid climate and altitude make it very important that you drink lots of water and protect your skin from UV rays while you’re here.

Dress for the weather and bring comfortable footwear, if you’ll be walking with us on our tour of campus. Spring and fall weather range from warm and sunny to cold, snowy, and windy. In other words, check the forecast before you come, and be ready for anything.
