We are so glad that you are interested in Fort Lewis College in beautiful Durango, Colorado! About 100 international students representing 15 nations attend FLC each year. Our small campus is located in a safe community, comprised of a caring faculty and staff, and offers excellent academic programs. Additionally, living in Durango puts you at the center of the Southwest’s natural and cultural treasures.
We welcome international students to apply as either first-year students, with no prior university level coursework, or as transfer students with prior university-level coursework. In addition to demonstrating success in academic coursework, international students whose primary language is not English must also have a minimum TOEFL score of 61 or a minimum IELTS score of 5.5.

Official transcripts from the institution that awarded your secondary/high school diploma must be sent directly from the issuing institution.
High school diplomas require a course-by-course evaluation for the U.S. equivalent grade point average (GPA) by a NACES member
If you have previously attended any college or university, official transcripts from all colleges and universities must be sent directly to the Admission Office. Please submit translated and untranslated copies of your transcripts.
Transcripts for academic work where the language of instruction was other than English must be accompanied by a certified translation and certified evaluation, both in English. University-level transcripts require a course-by-course evaluation by World Education Services.

Official SAT or ACT scores are required only if graduating from a U.S. high school or are a NCAA athlete. If you are not graduating from a U.S. high school or playing an NCAA athletic sport for at FLC, these test scores are required only if you would like to be considered for the Freshman Merit Scholarship.
Scores may be sent directly from the testing agency. Fort Lewis College’s ACT code is 0510 and SAT code is 4310. FLC does not require the essay portion of either ACT or SAT.
International students from countries where the primary language is not English are required to submit official TOEFL. IELTS, or Duolingo test scores. TOEFL scores must come directly from the Educational Testing Service. Admission to Fort Lewis College requires a minimum TOEFL score of 61 (internet-based) or 500 (paper-based). IELTS scores must come directly from the testing agency and a minimum score of 5.5 is required for admission to Fort Lewis College. Duolingo scores must come directly from Duolingo and a minimum score of 85 is required for admission to Fort Lewis College.
TOEFL, IELTS & Duolingo Exempt Countries: Australia, Belize, Botswana, Canada (except Quebec), Commonwealth Caribbean, England, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Wales and Zimbabwe.
In order to enroll at Fort Lewis College, all international students must submit the Declaration & Certification of Finances, including bank statements as supporting documents. The form may be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. In order to enroll at Fort Lewis College, international students must also complete the I-20 student visa process.
A non-refundable US$40 application fee is required to process your application. When you apply online, you will be asked to submit to the Admission Office a credit or debit card, or you may submit without payment and send a check from a U.S. bank, or a bank money order in U.S. currency, payable to “Fort Lewis College.” Please be sure your full name and date of birth are included on the check.
