Paying for college

At FLC, we value a diverse international population. To this end, we offer financial assistance to qualified students in the form of renewable scholarships and on-campus employment.

International Scholarships

Merit-based scholarships are awarded based on academic performance in high school or college. All awarded scholarships are renewable each year for three years. Scholarships range up to$10,000 per academic year for first-year students and $3,000 per academic year for transfer students. Merit-based scholarships are automatically awarded based on your grade point average (GPA) shortly after you are admitted, so you don't need to apply.

Institutional Scholarships

We automatically determine eligibility for and apply the Professor's, Dean's, Provost's and Presidential tuition scholarships during admission. Consideration is based on high school GPA. Awards range from $6,000 to $10,000 for out-of-state students, and are renewable for up to four years.

International student award amounts

  • GPA 3.0-3.24 - PROFESSOR'S TUITION SCHOLARSHIP: $6,000
  • GPA 3.25-3.49 - DEAN'S TUITION SCHOLARSHIP: $6,000
  • GPA 3.50-3.74 - PROVOST'S TUITION SCHOLARSHIP: $8,000
  • GPA 3.75-4.0 - PRESIDENTIAL TUITION SCHOLARSHIP:$10,000

Transfer Tuition Merit Scholarship

Eligible students (3.0 or higher college-level GPA who have not previously earned a baccalaureate degree) will be automatically considered for this scholarship. It is renewable for up to 8 semesters or 120 earned credits, whichever comes first.

International student award amounts

  • GPA 3.5+ - $3,000
  • GPA 3.0 - 3.49 - $2,500

Employment as an international student

As an international student with an F-1 or J-1 student visa, you will not be able to work off campus. However, you can work up to 20 hours per week on FLC’s campus, and are eligible to apply for a “non-Work-Study” position. (Unfortunately, “Work-Study” positions are not available to international students.)
