Purpose of Position:

Fort Lewis Student Ambassadors are an essential piece of the Admission Office’s recruitment efforts on-campus. Our Student Ambassadors are the face of Fort Lewis College for all prospective students and their families. They lead campus tours, share personal stories, and provide exceptional customer service to bring more students to Fort Lewis College. This role helps students practice their leadership skills, public speaking ability, critical thinking, customer service, and so much more. This isn’t just an on-campus job, this is the opportunity to leave a legacy at FLC, one student at a time.


  • Preference for full time students with at least one semester completed at FLC
  • Minimum of 2.75 GPA and in good academic standing through their employment
  • Commitment to the role until end of Spring 2021 semester (and potentially beyond)
  • Strong interpersonal, presentational, and written communication skills
  • A love and passion for Fort Lewis College
  • Knowledge of academic departments, extracurricular activities and/or athletics at FLC
  • Professionalism and flexibility
  • Hospitable, welcoming, friendly, and humorous
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • An ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Lead campus tours for prospective students and families
  • Participate in all Friday at the Fort, Preview Weekend and all other campus recruitment events
  • Assist with front desk responsibilities, such as answer the phones and helping walk-ins
  • Be knowledgeable about many aspects of campus
  • Participate in contacting prospective students, via phone, text, and email, including calling evenings and weeks as assigned.
  • Enter prospective student information into the Admission database
  • Assist Communication Manager with mailing to prospective, admitted and confirmed students
  • Provide prospective students with general information including directions to campus, where to park, how to receive ski or raft vouchers, etc.
  • Participate in off campus recruitment events
  • Assist Admission staff with various administrative assignments
  • Maintain and assist with tracking of Admission inventory
  • Attend Student Ambassador professional development opportunities and training sessions
  • Assist and support the day to day operations of the Admission Office

  • Ambassador Retreat: Saturday, February 22 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM
  • Weekly Ambassador Meeting/Training: Thursdays from 1:00-2:00PM (subject to change)
  • March Friday at the Fort event: Friday, March 6
  • FLC Preview event: Saturday, March 28
  • FLC Preview event: Saturday, April 11
