Applying for Financial Aid

If you plan on attending the SUMMER 2015 semester you will need to have filed a 2014-15 FAFSA, and you must complete a Summer Enrollment Form, which is available on the Office of Financial Aid website in March. Summer award letters will be mailed to the student once the enrollment form is processed. To accept Summer awards you must sign and return the award letter to the Office of Financial Aid.

If you are applying for Financial Aid for the FALL 2015 semester you must complete the 2015-16 FAFSA, which is available at after January 1, 2015. Your Financial Aid Award letter will be mailed in mid-March.

Financial Aid Counselors

Check in with the Office of Financial Aid to learn about the terms and conditions that apply to the aid you are receiving before accepting your award. You are assigned a financial aid counselor based on the first letter of your last name:

To speak with your financial aid counselor, stop by 101 Miller Student Services or call (970) 247-7142 or toll-free at (800) 352-7512. Financial Aid counselors are available 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Accepting Financial Aid Packages

Once you receive your Spring or Fall award letter you will be able to accept your financial aid award(s) online via the WebOpus system.

  • Go to theFort
  • Login to your account with your username and password
  • Choose "WebOPUS" from the left column
  • Click on "Financial Aid" tab
  • Click on "My Award Information" tab
  • Click on "Terms and Conditions" tab. Read the term and conditions and click "I accept" at the bottom of the page, which only accepts the terms and conditions of receiving financial aid, not the actual awards.
  • Now, click on "Accept Award Offer" and accept the offered aid you want. You may notice that certain types of aid are already accepted on your behalf.

Please note, the Office of Financial Aid may request additional information from you in order for your aid to disburse. Requested documents can be viewed by logging into your WebOpus account.

  • Go to theFort
  • Login to your account with your username and password
  • Choose "WebOPUS" from the left column
  • Click on the "Financial Aid" tab
  • Click on "My Overall Status of Financial Aid"
  • Select your appropriate aid year
  • Click on the outstanding requirement shown to view directions or to be linked to the needed form(s)
