Chroma Coves by Justin D’Onofrio

Exhibition Statement

Chroma Coves merges new and earlier works by Justin D’Onofrio in a series of intimate, color-contemplative alcoves. Each space pairs vessels with a wall piece, in consideration of landscapes and light qualities that D’Onofrio draws inspiration from. The works build upon one another across color, contour, and gesture to encapsulate the viewer in niche visual environments.

In these chromatic pockets, D’Onofrio is intrigued by the tether between repetition and variation, and the spectrum of material qualities, from industrially produced color to earthen tone and wild clay. The vessel and wall pairings contemplate clay as containers of place and an extension of it and their use in the sensorial experience of space, color and perception.
