Alan Hill graduated from Fort Lewis College in 1978 with a degree in Political Science. During his time at Fort Lewis, he competed in intercollegiate athletics as a member of the men’s basketball team, completing four years that began as a walk-on (non-scholarship) player. In his senior year, he was honored as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete for Fort Lewis College.
Alan continued on to the University of Colorado School of Law, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 1981. He has been licensed to practice law in Colorado since 1981. Alan’s practice has focused on water law, first in Durango, then the Denver area. He is currently a principal in a firm he founded, Hill and Pollock, LLC, in Denver.
He has extensive experience in governance, having represented municipalities, special districts, and other governmental entities, as well as appearing in front of city councils, special district boards and administrative boards. He has also served on various boards, including as an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Stargate School (2003-2006, President 2005-2006), a charter school in the Adams 12 School District.
A native of Boulder, Colorado, he has a son who recently graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines.
His term will expire Dec. 31, 2018.
