Join Modern Language Professor Carolina Alonso, who is hosting a tertulia, a cultural and literary gathering, where students can present their creative and artistic works (poetry, short stories, music, performances, etc.) as well as share cultural stories and/or anecdotes. 10/3/2017 12:00 PM Charla: FLC Graduate Augustin Caraza

Join us for a Charla with December 2016 Fort Lewis College Graduate Augustin Caraza. Augustin came to FLC and played on the football team until injuries prevented him from playing. That's when El Centro entered his educational journey and he became a Spanish tutor and work-study employee. In his time at FLC, he traveled to Spain where he mastered his skills in Spanish conversation. Upon graduation, Augustin coordinated the Modern Language lab and El Centro tutoring services until landing his current job as an academic success coach for STEM at FLC. He will be sharing his educational journey story over lunch.

Cooking Matters offers a cooking class for families involved with El Centro, NAC and/or TRIO programs. If you are interested in registering for this class, which runs every Tuesday until Nov. 14, and is first-come, first-served, please contact Emma Salazar at: ebsalazar@fortlewis.edu.

Cooking Matters helps families to shop for and cook healthy meals on a budget, as part of Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign.

11/2/2017 11:00 AM Common Ground Facilitator Training

Annual Facilitator Training: Nov. 2-5-- Thurs/Fri. 11am-5pm; Saturday 9am-5pm

Facilitators conduct diversity training and anti-bias educational programs to our campus at events, new student orientation and in the classroom. All facilitators are volunteers and have completed an 18 hour training. Facilitators are asked to volunteer for a minimum of 1-2 workshops annually. Through a large network of trained facilitators, Common Ground can provide diversity workshops to thousands of students each year.

Fort Lewis College's annual Fall Break will be held from Monday, Nov. 20 through Friday, Nov. 24. Classes start again on Monday, Nov. 27.

Posada means "the Inn" and celebrations called "Las Posadas" share specific songs and traditions that El Centro hopes to share with you. All are welcome to this family-friendly celebration.
