Dance Instructor(s):

Department: EL Centro de Muchos Colores, student affairs

Supervisor: Shirena Trujillo Long, coordinator of El Centro

Job Description:

Responsibility: This individual(s) will be required to work or volunteer between 10-15 hours a week.  Hours includes duties listed as well as practice and performance preparation, dance history research, attending performances, attending annual national dance conference, and attending weekly or bi-weekly Ballet Meetings that include the support group members. Depending on the performance schedule hours may increase or decrease. 

Skills and other Qualities necessary:

  • Creating a performance dance line-up
  • Provide music and current performance dance line-up to Production Coordinator
  • Provide the Volunteer Coordinator a spreadsheet of performance dance line-up with history included.
  • Will come to practice and performances prepared to teach and dance!
  • Will work closely with providing training to their Dance Instructing Mentee

In accepting this job, BFDD will not pay for moving cost of any type.

Department: Ballet Folklorico de Durango

Job Description:

Responsibilities: This individual(s) will be required to work or volunteer between 5-10 hours a week.  Hours includes duties listed as well as practice and performance attendance, and attending weekly or bi-weekly Ballet Meetings that include the support group members. Also, attending annual national dance conference.

Skills and Other Qualities necessary:

  • Helping with dance instruction
  • Writing down the order of steps and chorography
  • Will be responsible of reminding students of “Rules and Expectations of Dancers”.
  • For the Youth Group Mentee- at performances this individual will be responsible for bringing the students on and off stage. And will be required to perform alongside them as a “Guide”
  • Provide the Volunteer Coordinator of a spreadsheet of performance dance line-up with history included, if the Dance Instructor is not able to perform this duty.
  • Mentee to provide music to Production Coordinator, if the Dance Instructor is not able to perform this duty.

Work-study Student assistant 

Number of Students Needed: up to 12

Title: Work-study outreach coordinators

Department: Ballet Folklorico de Durango

Supervisor:  Shirena Trujillo Long, coordinator of El Centro

Job Description:

Responsibilities: This individual will be required to work or volunteer between 5 to 10 hours a week. These hours include duties listed as well as attending weekly or bi-weekly Ballet meetings. Depending on if there are significant amount of performance request, hours may increase or decrease.

Skills and other Qualities necessary:

  • Coordinating with Dance instructor(s) on figuring out a day and time for dance practice. 
  • Will work closely with Parent Liaison and FLC Secretary 
  • Will be responsible for distributing information about upcoming performances
  • Will be responsible in updating the Parent Liaison and FLC Secretary of any changes to practice and/or performance day(s) and time(s)
  • Will be responsible to confirm with clients about performance request by email and by phone.
  • Will be responsible in helping Club Ballet Secretary in creating a year Calendar and Brochure Calendar
  • Will be responsible in asking clients important performance information such as: Do we need to bring our own sound system? Is the dressing room located next to the stage? Do we need to bring our own stage? Where is the performance (dance) area located? 
  • Will be responsible to get directions and exact location of performance area.
  • Will also be responsible to update “Ballet Folklorico Performance Data” Spreadsheet.
