Sustainability is a core commitment of Fort Lewis College and is integral to a liberal arts education! The Environmental Center proudly stands as cornerstone of sustainability efforts at FLC.
The Fort Lewis College Sustainability Webpage has more information on what we're doing on campus and in the community.
History of Sustainability at FLC
In 2007 President Brad Bartel signed on to the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) which is now known as the Second Nature Carbon Commitment. Fort Lewis College continually reports on our progress toward our commitment to greenhouse gas neutrality.
In December of 2009, the President along with the Board of Trustees approved Fort Lewis College's Sustainability Action Plan. This success was a result of over two years of work by students, staff, faculty, and administrators. In 2016, the Campus Sustainability Council re-visited the plan identifying new high-priority climate projects and mapping stakeholders.
